What a load of steroetypical clap-trap

Agreed. Achieving that much power requires a certain type of person, willing to do things, and make choices that most people aren't. It has nothing to do with gender. While the majority of time it has been men in these positions, women who have risen to this level have shown themselves to be just as corruptible.

i haven't posted here in a while, but i thought this was worth mentioning, and i just wanted to vent about it.. my brother and sister-in-law, who are now divorced, bought my niece a clarinet about a year ago, so she could play in the band at school.

she loves it more than anything in the world.

one day last week, her grandmother found out about this and got all upset about it.

Poor kid! I hope she doesn't let grandma guilt her into quiting band

My fear is that the elders will find out and try to guilt her mom into forcing her to quit. They don't have any hold over my brother. He lives with me, and doesn't attend meetings anymore. But my ex-sister-in-law wants badly to be reinstated. She's a very co-dependent person, and misses her family and friends.

the jws, catholics, mormons, and a handful of others say they are the "true church" or what jesus originally intended.

i know jws call themselves the "true christians".

by what authority - outside of the bible, since 41,000 denominations use the bible to back up their individual beliefs - can jws make this claim?

I'm 100 percent committed to the notion that the existence of God can be neither proven nor disproven. And I'm not a coward. I just don't care.

My brother and sister-in-law, who are now divorced, bought my niece a clarinet about a year ago, so she could play in the band at school. She loves it more than anything in the world. One day last week, her grandmother found out about this and got all upset about it. She lectured my niece about how she shouldn't be playing in the school band (apparently her eternal salvation is at stake for playing the clarinet). My niece called her mom at work, in tears over what her grandma had said, and worried that she was going to have to quit band.

The amount of guilt bestowed upon JWs, especially young ones, just makes me ill. What makes this worse is that this woman won't associate with her own daughter, who is now DF'd, and treats my brother like the devil, because she blames him for her daughter being DF'd. And yet they still allow her to see her grandchildren.

For NFL fans

so i got into the nfl in the early/mid 90s.

back then there were some great running backs - happening onto a lions game late on sunday night over here and seeing barry sanders was what got me into it.

but it seems the running game is dead.

Can someone tell me why and is it a permanent shift in tactics?

People seem to like the pass better than the run game. It makes the game more fast-paced, and makes it more exciting to watch. It leads to more points being scored, which people also like. As a result, the league has gradually changed the rules, making it much more difficult for defenses to stop the pass. Defenders use to be able to put their hands on receivers past the 5 yard mark, but no longer. And the slightest bit of contact is usually called pass interference.

The running back has become the most thankless position in the NFL. They have the shortest shelf life. Backs are generally in their prime for only about 5 or 6 seasons, and are basically washed up by the time they are 30.

Forgive my ignorance, but what do you mean by 'single platoon'? If you mean guys playing both sides of the ball, it used to be done that way many years ago.

do you own a 4wd vehicle?

if so, and it's the type that requires you to switch to 4wd, how often do you use that capability?

i know more than a few people with 4wd capability but never use it.

a couple of these folks don't even know what it's for.

I have a Trail Blazer that I have to manually switch over to 4WD. It's great during the winter, though last winter was so mild, especially for Wisconsin, that I only ended up using it about 3 or 4 times.
